After much thought Pepe and I (Paco) have decided to scratch off the names Pepe and Paco. Since sophomore year of high school these names have stuck with us  which bloomed from our slight obsession with Mexican Cholos. These names will always be a part of us but it’s time for some changes. In celebration of the new year we will no longer go by Pepe and Paco, instead, our names will now be (drumroll please!) Anna Son (Pepe) and Genesis (Paco). As the blog continues to develop we want to take a moment and thank all our followers. The continuing support allows us to truly enjoy what we do and strive to make AestheticallyPleasing better and better. Thank you and stay tuned to AestheticallyPleasing for new posts, pictures, collaborations, and more!

P.S. Lets hope there’s no confusion!

Love,

So, the past few days some rap beef has been barbecuing on twitter. If you haven’t heard already, rappers Azealia Banks and Angel Haze went head to head online yesterday. From what I’ve seen on twitter and music blogs, it all started with Harlem born and raised Azealia tweeting her problem with non-New Yorkers claiming the city as their own -alluding to Detroit-born Angel Haze’s song New York. The rest seemed like typical catty banter-I don’t have time to “twatch” celebrity drama but fortunately for me and the rest of the fans, the battle resulted in the release of two diss tracks, one from each artist. “Shut The Fuck Up”- by Angel Haze and Banks’ “No Problems”(produced by Machinedrum) both threw some serious blows at the feuding artists.

Now, I am a self declared Azealia Banks superfan (is there a name for her following yet i.e Beliebers:Justin bieber, Barbz:Nicki Minaj??) so instantly I thought: “who is this no-name trying come for the Liquorice Bitch??” I never heard of Angel Haze until the beef started, but being the fair and open-minded individual that I am, I did my research and find a real reason to hate her other than my love for Azealia Banks. To my surprise, she isn’t that bad. I was really impressed by her some of her freestyles and her flow.

[Peep her No Church In The Wild freestyle-Powerful lyrics right here]

While I think she lacks the overall uniqueness and creativity that Azealia Banks is bringing to the rap game, I do think she is lyrically talented and stands out among today’s below average female rappers. Azealia Banks is still number one in my eyes and unfortunately, I think Angel Haze’s lack of originality will hold her back. But she’s definitely on the come up.

Now realizing her standing in the industry, I’m mad at both of them for not sticking together! When there are Iggy Azaleas, Krayshawns, Nicki Minajes, and Honey Cocaines (who, I shamefully admit, is my ratchet guilty pleasure) running rampant and infecting the perception and credibility of female rappers in the industry, why wouldn’t these two skilled artists band together and gang up on them instead of each other??

My only guess is that it’s because us females are catty and territorial

Are you all Team Azealia or Team Angel?? and what’s your take on female rappers these days??

Got bored and decided to play around with make-up! Created an ombre/gradient lip inspired by Youtube beauty guru @TiarraMonet

Colors used: Snob by MAC, Cyber by MAC and a random red from Sephora.

Made that move today…officially #teamNatural ..this will be quite an adjustment. I almost had an “America’s Next Top Model Moment” as my hairdresser was hacking off the ends of my hair ( you know, that one girl who always has to get all her hair chopped off and goes into a manic depression) but I held it all together lol.

I transitioned for about 15 months before cutting my hair today. Honestly, I am not feeling the look. I just think I’m still in shock of how different it is, and I’m so used to having hair that at least brushes my shoulders. And I’ve never been one to wear my hair in up-doo’s because I have round cheeks and don’t like not having hair framing my face.

All in all, I love my natural hair, the texture and the volume, it’s just gonna take some getting used to like any other drastic change to hair. My mom reassured me that “I am not my hair” (thanks, India.Arie) and I added some make up and accessories so I’m feeling a little better now.

When it comes to hair, I get bored and end up changing it up almost bi-weekly anyway. So there will definitely be twist-outs, braid-outs, highlights, wigs, and weaves in my future. Which my favorite feature of Black hair, versatility, will allow me to do.

But for now, I’m Fro Loving! lol #TeamNatural Who’s with me!??

I found the skirt, shirt, and belt at the thrift store recently. Put it all together and you have a vintage, gypsy-esque, romantic outfit! I love sheer and lace materials, the shirt was a great find! And I was loving my almost-natural (Team Transitioning!) poofy fro!

I straightened my locks today. It took a few hours- I washed, conditioned, and blow dried as well- but it came out pretty nice :)

Probably the most productive thing I did all day.
