There are absolutely no words to explain how I felt in these past four days. Love is such a powerful thing to feel and receive and I can honestly say that I have fell deeply in LOVE with some of the most amazing kids and adults during these past four days. The first day we arrived in VSU (Virginia State University), awesome campus by the way, we were greeted by screams and shouts. These college kids were full of love and are just plain cool. It was overwhelming to see so much love-I thought they were crazy as hell! We got to meet ERNIE G, a hilarious, loving, and inspiring comedian (check him out). The first night we did a bunch of ice breakers and it worked its magic, some people shared their “up-sides” and “down-sides”, a flaw and a virtue. Some were surface thin but others were deep, almost deep to even believe, and that allowed others to share too. People were so open and sincere, it was like you’ve known them for ages. I almost forgot that I was there for college help. We talked about EVERYTHING, academically and spiritually. I love my Latinos, we are a beautiful group of people that have so much offer to our community. And that was the message HYI tried to install in us. Young Latinos need to exceed to prove to all those people that discriminate us, hurt us, say we don’t pay taxes, are lazy bums, get pregnant at such a young age. And college is an opportunity to get away from that. We are rising professionals, intelligent, strong, beautiful people and we need to pay back  our parents for the endless hours of sacrifice they have given us. Our parents came to the United States for a reason, EDUCATION FOR THEIR CHILDREN. We all must go to college! We are DREAM STUDENTS, DOCUMENTED OR UNDOCUMENTED. I am truly blessed to have meet 200+ of successful, intelligent students that are now part of MI FAMILIA!AND I WON THE $1000 ART SCHOLARSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!A GREAT WAY TO A START OFF MY COLLEGE EDUCATION.
